Flight 331 of American Airlines crashes in Jamaica

















MIAMI, Dec 23 (Reuters) - An American Airlines (AMR.N) Boeing 737 overshot the runway while landing in driving rain at the international airport in Kingston, Jamaica on Tuesday night, but the company said there were no fatalities or serious injuries.

According to American Airlines, the plane came to a safe stop and there are no reports of injuries or fatalities. However, according to several other sources, American Airlines flight 331 is said to have been split in half after skidding off the runway.

In Local news media said 40 passangers were hurt in the crash.

Flight 331 took off from Miami International Airport at 8:52 p.m. and arrived at Norman Manley International Airport at 10:22 p.m. It originated at Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.

The known facts for sure are that there were 145 passengers on American Airlines flight 331 as well as seven crew members, and that the plane was en route from Miami, Florida to Kingston, Jamaica on Tuesday night after starting out in Washington D.C.
